SEVERE WEATHER POLICY
Franklin Township Softball Weather Policy
Revised 04/01/2025
TEMPERATURE
The league does not have a specific temperature policy for canceling practice due to either high or low temperatures, as there are multiple factors that determine if a temperature is dangerous. We ask that each coach communicate with their families and make a decision based on the opinion of the group. Coaches are also responsible for ensuring that all families understand practices are optional during these weather events.
RAIN
The league does not typically "close" fields to PRACTICE when it is, or has been, raining. We expect each Head Coach to use their best judgement and only practice in the outfield grass if there is standing water in the infield. The league will determine if GAMES are to be delayed or postponed due to standing water.
LIGHTNING
All coaches, spectators, and players must immediately shelter, and continue to shelter for 30 minutes after the LAST lightning strike. This policy is effective during both practices and games.
If the league feels the conditions are too dangerous for all players, we will cancel practices and/or games.
Efforts will be made to reschedule games that have been canceled due to inclement weather, but we cannot guarantee that all 10 games will be played.
