TOURNAMENT RULES
Franklin Township Softball Tournament Rules

1. A Single Elimination Tournament for all 8U, 10U, and 12/14U teams will take place at the conclusion of all regular season games.
2. Tournament seedings and schedules shall be determined based on the number of teams in each age group. All teams will be seeded based on regular season record.
3. The higher seeded (lower number) team will be the Home Team in all games leading up to the Championship Game. The Home Team will be determined by an umpire coin flip for the Championship Game.
4. All tournament games leading up to the Championship Game shall last 70 minutes with a limit of 6 runs scored in any one inning. If teams are tied when time has expired and the home team has completed the inning, the USSSA International Tiebreaker Rule* will be followed.
5. The Championship Game will be played for 6 innings with no time limit and no run rule in the 6th inning, UNLESS the game run rule applies prior to the 6th inning:
12 Runs after 3 completed innings
10 Runs after 4 completed innings
8 Runs after 5 completed innings
If teams are tied after 6 innings and the home team has completed the inning, the USSSA International Tiebreaker Rule* will be followed.
7. The 8U age group will play coach-pitch ONLY for all tournament games.
8. All league rules shall be followed by the umpires. Warnings and/or umpire “lessons” will not be utilized.
9. Franklin Township Softball League rules are to be followed when a rule is not covered by the above Tournament specific rules.
*USSSA International Tie-Breaker Rule
"At the start of the inning in which the tie-breaker rule is used, the offensive team shall begin its turn at bat with the player who is scheduled to bat last in that respective half inning being placed on second base (e.g., if the number 5 batter is the lead off batter, the number 4 batter in the batting order will be placed on second base). The umpire and the scorekeeper will determine that the proper runner has been placed at second base and the inning shall begin."
